Claimed is a laser beam (2) process and assembly to mark a product e.g. food (10) or its packaging. The laser beam is regulated by a programable laser beam deflector system (30, 31) that direct the beam through two non-overlapping paths. Each beam can be deflected through an angle which overlaps the target area of the other beam. Each beam can reach some or all of the second target area.
