In the system to detect illumination by an attacking high power microwave (HPM) device, the electrical field of the pulses are received irrespective of the direction. On exceeding a minimum level, at least in the upper range of a short time integral of the received field strength of conventional durable radiation, they are measured differentially in both orthogonal polarization directions against each other. The time span between reception of a pulse field to the initial breach of the minimum level is a measure of the range to the attacking source. The field is received at least at two offset sites, for the time difference to be measured on breaching the minimum level.
|
