<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a direct methanol type fuel cell system capable of using much of power generated by the direct methanol type fuel cell system as a driving power of electronic equipment or the like to which the fuel cell system is connected and capable of maintaining an optimum fuel concentration for power generation in the direct methanol type fuel cell. <P>SOLUTION: The direct methanol type fuel cell system 1 is provided with a fuel cartridge 3 which contains solid or gel methanol, a water supply device 5 which supplies water for eluting methanol from the solid or gel methanol to the fuel cartridge 3, and a direct methanol type fuel cell device 2 which has a fuel electrode 21 to which methanol water solution taken out of the fuel cartridge 3 is supplied.
