<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication system capable of simplifying the implementation of a communication mechanism for authenticating card-type storage media mounted on the peripheral device though the direction in which commands for executing communication events are issued is restricted to one direction from the PC side to the peripheral device side as described above. <P>SOLUTION: Security reference information that is acquired on the host device side is transmitted to the peripheral device as supplementary information on search instruction data by a supplementary-information communication mechanism peculiar to the present invention, Then, the implementation of the communication mechanism for performing security authentication of the card-type storage media mounted on the peripheral device is simplified though direction is restricted to one direction from the PC side to the peripheral device side by providing the peripheral device with an authentication means for authenticating access authority from the host device side to the card-type storage media using security master information written in the card-type storage media and the security reference information received from the host device. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
