PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image sensing device reducing failures when acquiring information on foreign objects, such as dust etc. on an optical member disposed in front of an image sensing element from the photographed image data with user-friendliness, and to provide its control method. SOLUTION: The image sensing device carries out photometry (S206), calculates a shutter speed on the basis of the predetermined F value and a photometric value obtained through the above photometry (S207), determines whether the calculated shutter speed is slower than a predetermined shutter speed or not (S208), sets up an exposure time so that the calculated shutter speed is higher than the predetermined shutter speed when it is determined that the calculated shutter speed is slower than a predetermined shutter speed (S209), and acquires a foreign object detecting image containing the image of foreign object attached to the surface of the optical member disposed in front of the image sensing element through an exposure time set up in the above setting process (S212).
