PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly convenient recorder/reproducer capable of automatic videotape recording of relay broadcasting without using dedicated data. SOLUTION: When the recorder/reproducer for recording and reproducing video information or sound information performs videotape recording of a program, EPG is used to acquire a completion time of broadcast of a program to be videotape recorded. Information on a program which starts to be broadcast within a prescribed period from the completion time (for example, in a time zone of thirty minutes from the completion time) is acquired by using the EPG. Programs similar to the programs to be videotape recorded are retrieved from a plurality of acquired programs.
