IMAGE REPRODUCING DEVICE AND IMAGE REPRODUCING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology which makes it possible to display a specific area of image data without distorting the image and sufficiently utilizing capacity of a display device. SOLUTION: A compressed image file 300 has trimming information corresponding to a kind or multiple kinds of aspect ratios. An image reproducing device decides an aspect ratio of the display area for reproducing and outputting the compressed image file 300, and performs trimming using the trimming information corresponding to the decided aspect ratio. The device performs magnification of the trimming image according to a size of the display area, and outputs it to an LCD panel 217 or the display device 220 as reproduced image data. When there is no trimming information corresponding to the decided trimming information, the device transforms and uses one of trimming information for corresponding to the decided aspect ratio.
