PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a three-dimensional shape measuring apparatus which is not affected by the reflectance of objects to be measured, has stripe-pattern light in which stripes are easily separable, and has only few computation errors, and to provide its method. SOLUTION: The apparatus 1 includes a projection means 3 for projecting stripe-pattern light in which high-intensity stripes 301 and low-intensity stripes 302 having lower brightness than that of the high-intensity stripes 301 are alternately arranged to an object to be measured 2; a camera 4 for receiving the reflection of the stripe-pattern light after it has hit the object to be measured 2 and outputting image data; and a computer 5 for generating three-dimensional coordinate data on the basis of the image data. The projection means 3 includes a light source 31 for outputting a laser beam 30; an enlarging means 32 for enlarging the laser beam 30 to a prescribed size; and a stripe-pattern forming means 33 for forming the laser beam 30 enlarged by the enlarging means 32 to the stripe-pattern light.
