PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensively manufacturable object detecting device by reducing the number of detecting circuits or switch circuits. SOLUTION: The object detecting device for detecting an object on a detection surface using variation of inductance comprises a plurality of driving wires 1 arranged in parallel and a plurality of detecting wires 2 arranged in parallel. A plurality of inductors 3 are matrix-interconnected between the driving wires 1 and detecting wires 2. A driving section 10 is connected to the plurality of driving wires and drives the plurality of inductors.
