PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an armrest device of a chair surely retaining a pad member to an armrest base plate without being detached freely, applying uniform and large flexibility to the pad member and giving a user a nice smooth touch when resting an arm thereon. SOLUTION: An erecting edge 7 is provided around an upper face outer circumferential edge of an armrest base plate 2, a support plate 11 is fixed to its inward, a downward piece 13 suspending from the outer circumference part of a core material 3 in the pad member 5 is externally fitted around the support plate 11, an engagement claw 14 provided in the lower end of the downward piece 13 is engaged with the outer circumferential edge of the support plate 11, the downward piece 13 and a surface material 14 are clamped between the outer circumferential edge of the support plate 11 and the inner face of the erecting edge 7 of the armrest base plate 2, and the engagement claw 14 and the surface material 4 are clamped between the outer circumferential edge of the support plate 11 and the upper face of the armrest base plate.
