Class 20(2) Angle bars, channels &c. having three or more longitudinal lines of holes for connecting bolts, have the holes of one or more flanges arranged so that two bars can be connected by four bolts arranged in a square, Fig. 2, and the holes of one or more lines are arranged in groups including one or more slots, the length of a group being not less than that of the side of a square. Fig. 1 shows a developed plan of an L-section bar in which the flange 1 is twice the width of the flange 2 which has a line of groups of holes, each group comprising two slots 7 and a round hole 6. Transverse slot 8" may be arranged between the groups. Flange 1 has two lines of slots 3, 4, slots 3 being staggered relatively to slots 4 and an intermediate line of alternate round holes 8 and transverse slots 8<SP>1</SP>. The slots 3, 4 are arranged at a quarter of the distance across the flange. The pitch of the slots is the same as the flange width and the length of the slots is half this width plus the width of the slot or larger. The length of the slots 3, 4 and the overall length of the groups of holes 6, 7 is the same. In a modification (Fig. 3, not shown) the flange 2 is three-quarters the width of the flange 1 and has in addition to the line of groups of holes, a line of slots similar to the slots 3, 4. A further modification comprises one flange similar to the flange 2 (Fig. 5, not shown) the other flange being similar to the flange 2, Fig. 1. A flange may have two lines of longitudinal groups of holes. A group may consist of a slot between two round holes, two or three slots, a round hole and a slot, or three round holes, according to the Provisional Specification.
