PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pull-down sequence detecting apparatus that can accurately detect the pull-down sequence. SOLUTION: A pull-down sequence detecting apparatus 300 comprises a movements determining unit 325, which compares the field of an interlace video image input to the relevant apparatus with a field of one frame immediately prior to storage in a field memory 312, and determines movements for each pixel; an inter-field difference acquiring unit 322 which determines the difference in the feature values between a portion where presence of movements is determined by the movements determining unit 325, and the same portion immediately prior to the field stored in the field memory 312; and a pull-down sequence detecting unit 324 which detects the pull-down sequence, on the basis of the variation pattern of the difference between the featured values of the fields determined by the inter-field difference acquiring unit 322.
