PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stretching machine of a sheetlike article capable of variably regulating a stretching quantity with respect to a plurality of directions by a simple structure and enhancing the stretching efficiency and yield of the sheetlike article. SOLUTION: The stretching machine of the sheetlike article includes a pair of endless link devices each of which has a preheating region for preheating the sheetlike article while guiding a plurality of equal length links, which grasp the sheetlike article, along a closed route, a stretching region, a thermal fixing region for thermally fixing the sheetlike article so as to hold stretched and a rail for feeding the equal length links. The feed and return rail support members arranged in the stretching region are constituted of almost equal length members mutually arranged almost in parallel in a horizontal direction to be made movable fanwise almost in parallel and the support member for supporting the pail arranged in the thermal fixing region is constituted so as to be made movable in the width direction of the sheetlike article in connection with the movement of the feed and return rail support members.
