PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation apparatus, method, and program capable of enhancing the availability of road information displayed being superposed on a road map, without having to require discrimination of the road information being displayed, when the road information is used by a user. SOLUTION: The navigation apparatus which displays road information superposing it on a road map, is provided with a road discrimination means (step S8) for determining whether a road where own vehicle exists is a general road or a highway, and a road information display control means (steps S9 to S13 in Fig.2) which displays only the road information on general roads out of individual roads displayed on a display portion 10, when the road is determined to be a general road by the road discrimination means, and displays only road information on highways from among those individual roads displayed on the display portion 10, if the road discriminated as being a highway by the road discrimination means.
