PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus and a method capable of photographing an image with reduced expose error and expose unevenness, and taking a configuration for a user hard to recognize unnatural changes in expose, and to provide a program and a storage medium. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus comprises a status distinction means 130 for distinguishing its own status; a scanning pattern setting means 131 for sequentially setting up a scanning pattern of a scanning means which performs charge storage origination scanning, for every column of an imaging element according to the output of the status distinction means 130; and a selecting means 134 for varying the number of times necessary for altering a scanning pattern of the scanning means to the scanning pattern established by the scanning pattern setting means 131, according to the output of the status distinction means 130.
