PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrostatic capacity type detector having high sensitivity with respect to changes in the dielectric constant of peripheral substances. SOLUTION: A sensor 10 is constituted so as to output the detection signal based of a change in the electrostatic capacity Cm between first and second electrodes 11 and 12 and is equipped with a plate part 18 containing the first and second electrodes 11 and 12 therein, and is molded into a flat plate shape by a molding resin 16. The first and second electrodes 11 and 12 are arranged in parallel with the width direction W of the plate part 18. Furthermore, a third electrode 13 is arranged between the first and second electrodes 11 and 12 and the width We3 of the third electrode 13 is smaller than the width We2 of the second electrode 12, while the interval Wd2 between the third electrode 13 and the second electrode 12 is narrower than the interval Wd1 between the third electrode 13 and the first electrode 11.
