<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell system capable of operating a fuel cell with high efficiency by improving efficiency of reaction in each cell, in a fuel cell system using a dead end method. <P>SOLUTION: A cell 5 constituting the fuel cell includes a membrane-electrode assembly 1 with electrodes arranged on both surfaces of an electrode membrane, and separators 8 arranged on both sides of the membrane-electrode assembly 1 through diffusion layers 6 and porous body passages 7. The electrodes are an anode and a cathode each having a catalyst layer 3 arranged in contact with the electrolyte membrane 4. A fuel gas and an oxidation gas are supplied to the anode and the cathode through the porous body passages 7, respectively. In the membrane-electrode assembly 1, no catalyst layer 3 is arranged in the part of the anode positioned on the downstream side of the flow of the fuel gas. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
