PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily execute the masking process for arbitrarily making a part of sprite transparent in a game machine. SOLUTION: In the game machine, starting memory and error display as well as the presentation display are displayed in an LCD. A CPU for the display control determines the content of the display according to the progress of a game and outputs a draw command to a VDP. The VDP develops the draw command for each scanning line of the LCD and generates display data. The CPU, after outputting the draw command for the sprites to be displayed, outputs a command to draw a number of mask sprites composed of transparent rectangles for the region to be masked. By drawing the mask sprites, the capacity of processing of the VDP reaches the limit and will not draw pictures any more after that, and therefore, other sprites will not be displayed.
