<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To further surely improve engine performance, by preventing mutual interference of respective exhaust gases from a plurality of cylinders of an engine in an outboard motor. <P>SOLUTION: The exhaust system in the outboard motor has: the engine 11 having a plurality of cylinders 27; a first expansion chamber case 56A of gathering the exhaust gas 18 from a partial cylinder 27 of the plurality of cylinders 27; and a second expansion chamber case 56B of gathering the exhaust gas 18 from the other cylinder 27. First and second exhaust passages 48A and 48B are formed by opening its respective downstream end openings 48a to 48d in the water 2 by respectively individually extending from these first and second expansion chamber cases 56A and 56B. Out of the respective cylinders 27, the cylinders 27A, 27C, 27E and 27G of an odd number in ignition order, are used as one partial cylinder 27, and the cylinders 27B, 27D, 27F and 27H of an even number are used as the other partial cylinder 27. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
