PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid electrolytic capacitor in which residence of unreacted monomer can be reduced when conductive polymer is formed as an electrolytic layer in a capacitor element, expansion of the capacitor is suppressed even if a temperature rise/fall step is performed repeatedly, and the equivalent series resistance (ESR) can be lowered. SOLUTION: In the process for manufacturing a solid electrolytic capacitor, when conductive polymer is formed as an electrolytic layer in a capacitor element, the capacitor element is impregnated with oxidizing agent and then impregnated with monomer diluted with organic solvent having latent heat of evaporation below 10.0 kcal/mol. Thereafter, the capacitor element is left as it is in a tank always filled with fresh reactive gas by positively exhausting reacted gas in order to prevent the residence of it under normal temperature for 10 min or longer, and heating is performed for 3-10 min in the above-mentioned tank which is particularly equipped with a furnace for positively performing heat treatment at 230-300°C.
