PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain not only three dimensional feeling but also posh feeling for a measuring instrument such as a fuel meter for vehicle. SOLUTION: On the surface of a transparent display panel 15, a design 17 is provided by pasting, printing, engraving and molding etc. On the backside of the display panel 15, a recess 16 is provided along the periphery of the display panel 15 which gradually inclines so as to become thin toward outside. On the recess 16, a wrinkle 18 is formed. Behind of the display panel 15 a transparent ground color plate 13 is arranged and under the ground color plate 13, light sources 14 are arranged. When illuminating the design 17, the light sources 14 are made to emit the light. Then, the whole of the display panel 15 becomes luminous, the design part 17 can be seen in a hollow state, therefore three dimensional feeling can be obtained. Moreover, the thickness of the display panel 15 or the brightness is different between the periphery and the center, so that the visual quality of wavy pattern allows posh feeling to be obtained.
