A mechanical assembly retention element is provided to improve utility by retaining two assembled elements with relatively small force in comparison with the force required to separate the elements. A mechanical assembly retention element comprises a first element(10) and a second element. The first element includes a body(14) having first and second external surfaces(16,18) and an inner wall with a hole(21) extended through the body. The second element is inserted into the hole and has a longitudinal member. A retention element(30) includes an elastomer protruding portion(32) extended from a base(34) attached to the inner wall to an edge in the hole. The protruding portion includes an inner sidewall(37) and an outer sidewall(38). When the second element is inserted into the hole of the first element, a free end(39) of the protruding portion is bent in an insert direction by being engaged with the second element. |
