A cutting head 5 suitable for cutting a fibrous material (eg asbestos) comprises a cutting tool 9 (eg a drill bit) having a shaft (17, fig 3) and a cutting assembly located at a distal end of the shaft. A vacuum chamber 8 houses the cutting assembly while providing for mechanical communication with the shaft. Preferably the vacuum chamber comprises a tool locator 15 through which the shaft is located such that an interference fit is provided between the tool locator and the shaft. The shaft may comprise first and second sections (17a,17b, fig 3) of differing diameters. A liner 16 may be provided, which provides a disposable physical barrier for an inner surface of the vacuum chamber. An end cap 24 may be provided for sealing an end of the vacuum chamber when not in use. |
