METHOD AND APPARATUS MANAGING DATA STORAGE PARTITIONS FOR NON-VOLATILE MEMORY

A method and an apparatus for managing a data storage region of a nonvolatile memory are provided to construct a boot loader, a kernel and a root file system in a RAM(Random Access Memory) and fuse the boot loader, the kernel and the root file system to a nonvolatile memory so as to form boot loader, kernel and root file system regions according to data sizes thereof. A new kernel is stored in a RAM when the new kernel is requested to be updated(204). A boot loader stored in a nonvolatile memory is read and stored in a lower region of the new kernel, and a root file system stored in the nonvolatile memory is read and stored in an upper region of the new kernel(206). The size of a user file system region stored in the nonvolatile memory is re-adjusted(214). The stored boot loader, the new kernel and the root file system are fused to the nonvolatile memory(216,218).
