A process for the treatment of Fischer-Tropsch tail gas comprising hydrocarbons, the process comprising: contacting the Fischer-Tropsch tail gas with a wash fluid; removing the wash fluid and a portion of the hydrocarbons in the tail gas, in a first stream; removing the remaining tail gas in a second separate stream; separating said tail gas component from the first stream. In a preferred embodiment C 5 and C 6 components are recovered from the tail gas. The wash fluid preferably comprises hydrocarbons produced by the same Fischer-Tropsch process.
