APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR RESOURCE ALLOCATION IN BROADBAND WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

An apparatus and a method for allocating resources in a broadband wireless communication system are provided to minimize a loss of radio resources, due to established allocation units, and the volume of radio resource information by diversifying the allocation start positions and allocation units of radio resources. An apparatus for allocating resources in a broadband wireless communication system comprises a scheduler(501), an encoder(503), a modulator(505), a subchannel allocator(507), a resource allocator(511) and a map creator(513). The scheduler(501) confirms the size of data to be transmitted and the volume of remaining radio resources which can be allocated, and transmits the radio resource allocation information of the data to the resource allocator(511) and the map creator(513). Using the radio resource allocation information provided from the scheduler(501), the map creator(513) creates and outputs map information to transmit the data. The encoder(503) encodes and outputs the data and the map information. The modulator(505) modulates and outputs the encoded data. The resource allocator(511) transmits the radio resource allocation information, provided from the scheduler(501), and the map information, provided from the map creator(513), to the subchannel allocator(507). The subchannel allocator(507) maps the data, provided from the modulator(505), to radio resources according to the resource allocation information provided from the resource allocator(511).
