A shift control device for a manual transmission is provided to prevent a gear from being derailed from the manual transmission by using a planetary gear set and a weight damper. A select lever(2) and a shift lever(4) are arranged to be normal to a transmission housing cover(6), such that the select lever is rotated to move a control shaft(8) in an axial direction during a select operation. During a shift operation, the shift lever rotates the control shaft. A weight damper device(10) is arranged in the transmission housing cover, from which the control shaft is extracted. The weight damper device includes a planetary gear set and a pair of weight dampers(14,16). The planetary gear set includes a single pinion planetary gear set.
