<p>A display element which can be driven with a simple member constitution and at a low voltage, and is high in display contrast and white display reflectance, and which is high in driving speed and little in image unevenness. The display element has between counter electrodes an electrolyte containing silver or a compound including silver in its chemical structure, and performs a driving operation of the counter electrodes using a drive circuit disposed for each pixel so as to cause solution/deposition of silver, characterized in that the counter electrodes are provided on a plane separate from that of the drive circuit.</p> |
