A METHOD AND AN APPARATUS FOR MANUFACTURING FIBER GRATINGS, AND AN OPTICAL FIBER HAVING THE FIBER GRATINGS FORMED THEREBY

A method and an apparatus for manufacturing fiber gratings, and an optical fiber having the fiber gratings formed thereby are provided to be used to manufacture more excellent optical instruments because the optical fiber having the fiber gratings has a more excellent optical characteristic than a conventional optical fiber. A method for manufacturing fiber gratings includes the steps of: creating a first optical fiber grating(26) on an optical fiber(12) by selectively exposing the optical fiber to a light source; and creating a second optical fiber grating(30) same as the first optical fiber grating by selectively exposing the optical fiber to the light source at an angle different from an angle of the first optical fiber grating along an axis of the optical fiber at a position spaced from the optical fiber grating in a length direction. The step of creating the second optical fiber grating includes the steps of: relatively moving the optical fiber and the light source in an axial direction of the optical fiber; rotating the optical fiber grating in the axial direction at 90 degrees or 270 degrees; and selectively the optical fiber to the light source.
