A method for driving a plasma display apparatus is provided to prevent the variation of gray scale by adjusting the number of sustain pulses in respective sub-fields according to temperatures. A plasma display apparatus displays multi gray scales using a field having plural sub-fields(SF1-SF8). The temperature of the plasma display apparatus is detected. Then, the driving schemes of the plasma display apparatus is differently operated according to the detected temperature. The driving schemes use different sub-field sequence patterns from one another according to the temperature. The driving schemes use different sub-fields to be removed based on the range of the temperatures such that sub-field sequence patterns are varied.
