A pants-type disposable wearing article such as a diaper includes a chassis forming a body of the article, an absorbent structure disposed on an inner surface of the chassis, and a plurality of elastic members arranged in waist-surrounding regions. Opposite end portions of the elastic members in a waist surrounding direction are secured in the vicinities of transversely opposite side edges of the waist regions to the chassis while a middle portion of the elastic members in the waist surrounding direction is not secured in the corresponding portion to the chassis.
