摘要 An optical fiber manufacturing apparatus and a method for reducing PMD(Polarization Mode Dispersion) are provided to produce optical fibers with low PMD stably without an error by applying constant spin without mechanical stress. An optical fiber manufacturing apparatus(100) is installed between a coating device(104) coating bare fibers(103) drawn from an optical fiber preform(101), with a coating layer and a winding bobbin(107) winding the optical fiber to produce the optical fiber with low PMD. A spin applying device(110) provides circumferential rotating power while contacting to the optical fiber, in order to dispose the optical fiber eccentrically in one or other direction vertical to a drawing shaft and applies clockwise or counterclockwise constant spin to the optical fiber. A twist applying device(120) provides circumferential rotating power while contacting to the optical fiber, so that the optical fibers receiving constant spin are eccentrically disposed in turn in one or other direction vertical to the drawing shaft and applies clockwise or counterclockwise non-constant twist periodically alternated, to the optical fiber.
