<p>A method for measuring radio channel quality and an apparatus thereof are provided to reliably measure radio channel quality by minimizing the effects of modulation parameters. A demodulator in a wireless communication system receives a signal modulated with modulation parameters(301). A decoder decodes the modulated signal(305). Then the decoder forms a decoder performance indicator based on a pseudo-syndrome value connected with the decoding of an error correction code according to the decoded data(306). The decoder selects a transfer function from a determined function set for the modulation parameters(307). Based on the decoder performance indicator, the decoder creates an RCQI(Radio Channel Quality Indicator) which is irrelevant to the modulation parameters. Then the decoder linearizes the decoder performance indicator(308).</p> |
