CONTINUOUS CASTING MACHINE AND METHOD

A continuous casting apparatus and a continuous casting method are provided to allow a mold flux to properly flow between a slag film and a solidification shell by controlling the shape of slag bear. A continuous casting apparatus includes: a mold(10); a molten steel surface cover(100) for covering an upper part of the mold; a gas supply unit for ejecting gas onto a boundary between an inner surface of the mold and molten steel(12), wherein the gas supply unit has a temperature control unit for varying temperature of the ejected gas. The gas supply unit includes a gas supply source(130), a conduit(110) for guiding gas from the gas supply source into the mold, and nozzles(120) formed on ends of the conduit to eject the gas. The continuous casting apparatus additionally includes a sensor for sensing the height of a molten steel surface of the mold, a flow control unit installed on the conduit, and an exhaust unit having an exhaust port(142) formed in the molten steel surface cover and directed to an inner part of the mold to exhaust inert gas in the mold.
