摘要 A hollow type surface illuminator is provided to emit light from a light source of a side of the rear of a light emitting surface in a direction parallel to the light emitting surface, and refract, reflect and diffuse the light to be guided to the light emitting surface. A light reflection surface member(2) is disposed in a bottom side of a hollow unit case(1), and a light emitting surface member(3) is disposed in a surface side facing the light reflection surface member of the unit case. A space inserted between the light emitting surface member and the light reflection surface member of the unit case is a hollow light guide area. An LED(Light Emitting Diode) light source is configured by linearly mounting plural LEDs(7) on a wiring substrate. The LED light source is disposed so as to emit light to the hollow light guide area as being adjacent to the hollow light guide area. An LED collimator(9) for collecting the light from the LED light source so as to be parallel on an LED optical axis of a unit thickness direction is disposed in a light emitting unit of the LED light source so as to be parallel to the arrangement of the LED. In the LED collimator, a refraction light-convergence function unit and a total reflection light-convergence function unit are installed. The refraction light-convergence function unit induces or emits the light, from the arrangement of the LEDs, to a body. The total reflection light-convergence function unit totally reflects the light induced into the body and emits the light to the hollow light guide area.
