A method for inputting Korean characters is provided to enable a user to input Korean consonants and vowels easily to a portable communication device capable of performing data communication as if a user writes Korean. A plurality of Korean vowels is inputted by pressing a horizontal and vertical stroke button of a key input part according to stroke order of each Korean vowel. When the user wants to input one of the remaining vowels discriminated from the vowels having the same number of strokes, input of the Korean vowel corresponding to the inputted stroke order is processes if a sub button is additionally pressed before/after the vowel is inputted.
