A method for changing a screen mode of a mobile terminal is provided to allow a user to view a magnified or rotated screen image in a full-screen form while maintaining a previous screen image. Video data is reproduced(S10), and a temporary freeze request signal is received from a user and a frame corresponding to a point of the request is selected(S20). An address of the frame is stored in a buffer and the frame is stored in a frame storage unit(S30). A certain function for outputting the frame is called(S40), and the frame is called from the frame storage unit based on an address of the frame(S50). The selected frame is magnified to a full-screen form(S60), and then, the temporarily frozen image is magnified to be displayed(S70).
