A driving device and a method for driving a display apparatus using the same are provided to prevent the reduction of display characteristic by outputting image data without the variation of the number of bits. A driving device for display apparatus includes a bit adjustor(120), a timing controller(130), and data and gate drivers(140,150). The bit adjustor receives N bit image data corresponding to images, adjusts the number of the bit of the image data according to a gray scale corresponding to the image data, and outputs the adjusted image data. The timing controller receives the image data from the bit adjustor and outputs data and gate control signals corresponding to the image data. The data driver outputs a data signal in response to the image data and data control signals from the timing controller. The gate driver outputs a gate signal in response to the gate control signal.
