The assembly has a fuel pumping device (3) with a control unit to control a volume variation unit. A vacuum pump (13) serves as an energy source to supply energy to the device. The variation unit is moved between compression and decompression positions, in which a fuel circulation chamber presents low and high volumes, respectively. The control unit comprises an activating chamber different from the circulation chamber, and controls the passage of the variation unit from the decompression position to the compression position and vice versa by varying the pressure in the circulation chamber.
