A machine for manufacturing electric cables, furnished with means for loading drums 4 carrying cable core components into appropriate positions on a rotatable carriage 1 forming part of a cable stranding-machine, is characterized in that at each of the loading positions, brackets 3 integral with the rotatable carriage 1 are provided, each bracket 3 including bearings 11 to receive spindles 5, carrying the drums 4, guide ramps 6, 61 along which the spindles 5 may pass when the drums are rolled at floor level 7 towards the machine, and positive means, e.g. a latch 12, for retaining each spindle 5 in its bearing 11 when the drums have been rolled into operative position. Guide rails 9, 9<SP>1</SP> guide the flanges of the drums 4 and hence the spindles 5 towards the ramps 6, 6<SP>1</SP>. The latches 12 are each governed by a hand grip 13 associated with a spring-biased lever system, which may be locked in an operative or inoperative position by a bar 26 in notches 24 or 25. |
