A satellite antenna system of a tracking mode-selective type is provided to facilitate correction and upgrade of the satellite antenna system by dividing a control program to acquire and track a position of a satellite into an IDU(InDoor Unit) and an ODU(OutDoor Unit). A satellite antenna system of a tracking mode-selective type includes an antenna part(100), a motor part(300), an ODU(400), and an IDU(500). The antenna part receives a satellite signal and is installed in a moving object. The motor unit rotates the antenna unit. The ODU drives the motor unit to steer the antenna unit in a satellite direction. The IDU controls the ODU such that the antenna unit steers toward a satellite. The satellite antenna system further includes a gyrosensor unit(200). The gyrosensor unit is installed detachably and senses movement of the moving object. The IDU selects and drives an inmotion mode to control rotation of the antenna unit by continuously tracking a position of the satellite based on information of the movement of the moving object and a positioner mode to fix a steering direction of the antenna unit after acquiring an initial position of the satellite.
