PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To propose a printing control method of line printer for establishing the suitable printing speed based on an actual transmission rate of the printing data transmitted from a host computer. SOLUTION: A line thermal printer 1 acquires an amount of data of the printing data for every one line according to the printing method with a line thermal head 8 which is developed to a printing buffer 9 as an effective transmission rate from the printing data received per unit time from the host computer 30 (processes ST3, ST4). An upper-limit value of the printing speed of the line thermal head 8 is established based on the acquired effective transmission rate (processes ST5, ST6). While a drive control means 13 controls the printing speed of the line thermal head 8 so that the printing speed may become below the established upper-limit value, the printing is performed with controlling the conveyance speed of a recording paper 4 (process ST7).
