An electric shock device ( 80 ) in use attached to an animal such as a horse or other equine animal to discourage an undesirable behaviour such as wind-sucking. The device ( 80 ) includes: an attachment ( 81 ) for locating the device ( 80 ) on the neck of the animal; an electric charge source ( 90 ) operatively connected to the attachment ( 81 ); electrode means ( 95 ) for applying an electric pulse to the animal, the electrode means ( 95 ) electrically connected to the charge source ( 90 ); and activation means such as a hinged lever or tongue ( 84 ) activated in response to the performance by the animal of the undesirable behaviour alone, the activation of the activation means ( 84 ) leading to the discharge of said electric pulse from said electric charge source ( 90 ).
