#CMT# #/CMT# System for determining the amount of a biological analyte in a body fluid sample comprises a sensor comprising an enzyme electrode, a reference electrode and a device for varying the enzyme electrode's temperature, a measuring device that receives the sensor and is connected to a power supply and comprises an electronic circuit for controlling the temperature-varying device and applying a voltage across the electrodes, and an analyzer that can discriminate between the signal generated by the analyte and signals resulting from interference by other biological compounds. #CMT# : #/CMT# Independent claims are also included for: (1) determining the amount of a biological analyte in a body fluid sample using a system as above; (2) sensor as above in which the temperature-varying device is a heating coil located beneath the enzyme electrode and insulated from it. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# The system is especially useful for measuring blood glucose levels. #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# Interference from other saccharides, e.g. maltose, is eliminated. #CMT#INSTRUMENTATION AND TESTING : #/CMT# Preferred System: The temperature-varying device is a heating coil mounted in the sensor or in the measuring device. The enzyme electrode comprises glucose dehydrogenase, pyrroloquinoline quinone and a ferrocene derivative or osmium complex. The applied voltage is 300 mV. The measuring device includes a screen for displaying glucose levels.
|
