PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a column joint structure enabling the efficiency of a column joining operation to be enhanced and the efficiency of a manufacturing operation for inner doubling plates to be enhanced. SOLUTION: In this column joint structure in which the upper end of a steel pipe column 1 on the lower section is joined to the lower end of a steel pipe column 2 on the upper section through an inner doubling plate 3, The inner doubling plate 3 in which through-holes 3a are formed and a retaining plate 4 opposed to the inner doubling plate 3 are disposed on the inside of the steel pipe columns 1, 2. Nuts 5 retained by the retaining plate 4 and held between the inner doubling plate 3 and the retaining plate 4 are interposed between the inner doubling plate 3 and the retaining plate 4. The nuts 5 through-holes 3a of the inner doubling plate 3, and through holes 1a, 2a formed in the steel pipe columns 1, 2 are aligned with each other. Bolts 8 inserted into the through-holes 1a, 2a of the steel pipe columns 1, 2 are screwed with the nuts 5 while being inserted into the through-holes 3a of the inner doubling plate 3 and then tightened.
