PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image projection system capable of reducing power consumption, while resolving insufficient luminance. SOLUTION: The image projection system comprises two or more image projectors, each having a light source part; a light source controller part for controlling a light quantity of illuminating the light emitted from the light source part; a light modulation part for modulating the illuminating light emitted from the light source part according to image data; and a projection optical part for projecting the light modulated by the light modulating part, and displays an image by superposing the light projected by the projection optical part of each image projector on a screen. The system also comprises a light quantity allocating part 43 for distributing and allocating a required light quantity determined, based on a gradation data contained in the image data to the light source part of each image projector; and a characteristics creating part 44 for creating the characteristics of the light modulation part, provided to each image projector according to the gradation data contained in the image data and a light source light quantity, allocated to the light source part of each image projector.
