The motor vehicle (1) comprises a controller (6) for determining allocation of seats (2,3) heated by a seat heater depending on the process of value characterizing the heating behavior of the seat heater. The seat heater is arranged below the seat surface (4). The controller is formed for the detection of the operating current and the operating voltage of a heating wire (5) and for detecting resistance of the heating wire. An independent claim is also included for a method for determining the allocation of seats in a motor vehicle.
