<p>The present invention provides a coating composition comprising an aqueous medium and, dispersed therein, starch and a film-forming agent which controls swelling of the starch by the aqueous medium. Formulations comprising the coating composition are also provided. The formulations may be useful in the treatment or diagnosis of colonic disease.</p>
