PROCESS FOR EPIMERISING CYCLOHEXENYL KETONES AND ITS APPLICATION IN ALDOL CONDENSATION PROCESS

Processes for producing intermediate materials used for perfumery, specif ically, epimerized cyclohexenyl ketones, are disclosed. Processes for employ ing the epimerising reaction in an Aldol condensation reaction are also disc losed. The process for epimerizing a cyclohexenyl ketone comprises the step of reacting epimerizable cyclohexenyl ketone with a metal hydride, preferabl y a hydride of Group 1 or Group 2 metals, more preferably wherein the metal hydride is selected from the group consisting of LiH, NaH, KH, CaH2 and mixt ures thereof.
