摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for driving a plasma display panel, which can generate stable elimination discharges even in the case of a plasma display panel of a large screen, and can display an image of high display quality. <P>SOLUTION: In the method for driving the plasma display panel, one field comprises a plurality of sub-fields each having a write-in period and a sustain period; the plasma display panel is provided with a power recovery part including a recovery capacitor charged at a predetermined voltage and a recovery inductor; after first discharge (sustain discharge) is generated by a selected discharge cell for the sustain period in a predetermined sub-field, the recovery inductor, the recovery capacitor, and display electrode pairs of inter-electrode capacitance are connected in series, and second discharge is generated by a selected discharge cell by making the display electrode pairs of the inter-electrode capacitance and the recovery inductor resonate, and applying a voltage exceeding a recovery capacitor voltage to at least one of the display electrode pairs; and the voltage applied to one of the display electrode pairs is controlled so as to be attenuated to the recovery capacitor voltage by the second discharge current. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
